Mr Musick & Riddim Champion

Introduction

Peace Family!

How good and pleasant it is for Brothers and Sisters to dwell together in unity! This project has a great meaning for me, as some of you know. First, this is Lion Arts’ twelfth release, marking completion. As you might have heard me say before, I take great honour in bringing forth Good Works of Art, promoting True Peace, Order, Good Government and Communal Welfare for all Human Beings, and this project is no different.

The Works of The Honourable Robert Nesta Marley, O.M. have travelled the world for over forty years now. An interesting fact worthy of mention is that this project was initiated on the second week of May and was accomplished the third week of June 2009; about forty days. Most of my musical projects are achieved this way, where I find myself focused for a short, concentrated period of time. The reason this gift has not reached your ears earlier is nothing less than divine. As this project represents cyclical completion, everything beyond the Art had to find its completion before this could be released. We don’t put new wine in old bottles.

Bob’s music had but one purpose, “to tell people about Rastafari”, he would say. In this process, many decisions and sacrifices were made as to accomplish this purpose. Whether it be leaving Jamaica for England or even having his record company bring in guest musicians as to have a more “commercial” sound. Yet, Bob’s purpose was never compromised.

Keeping this in mind, the only way this project was to materialize was to keep the essence of this purpose and the message intact. I have filtered through as many books I could find, but more importantly interviews, where Bob had, whenever the “journalist” was not concentrated on his use of herbs, the opportunity to go in depth with his views and visions. Most of the songs end with snippets of these interviews. The often superficial and sometimes vain questions he was asked are very much representative of the bewilderment of the western world when facing the Eastern mind. Yet, those questions are always met with vigourous simplicity and soundness.

This was the approach for this project; let Bob’s message speak for itself while keeping the essence of reggae music, with the Lion Arts’ flavor.

This is not the time to sit back and relax.

This is Movement. Movement of Jah People.

The Movement of GOD’s People.

Our Exodus.

Move!

150:1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.

150:2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

150:3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.

150:4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

150:5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

150:6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

(Psalm 150)
