The notes from the box set booklet reads: “[...]it’s a very early Tuff Gong single that shows the Jamaican love of US R’n’B with this romantic dancer and its echoes of ‘Gene & Eunis’ or ‘Shirley & Lee’”. Now, myself, being an artist from Montreal, Quebec, I can voice a thing or two about foreign influence on commercial radio. Those waters run much deeper than they seem.
